All the soaps currently curing will NOT be listed for public sale until after Dec. 5th!

I have two shows the first week of December that I need stock for...and tomorrow is the cut off date to get them made so they will be fully cured in time for the shows.

If there is something you like, shoot me an email at: gassner@gassnercustomsoaps.com so I can set it aside and mail it off to you once they are cured (Will be mailed Dec.1st)

Yay! I'm been making soap again!

I've made a point of making a batch of soap right after I put the babe down for a nap. To make it much easier for me, I've been making one large batch of a certain scent and then splitting it into two molds. One will be a smooth creamy batch without 'stuff', the other I've been adding something to.

Curing right now are:

I've always been a 'stuffless' soap lover, but there was a strong demand for more exfoliants in my soaps, so this really has been working out well.

A Change of Name

It was recently brought to my attention the the name I had chose for my plain, unscented bar of soap was a trademarked name. Apparently a customer of her was looking for her on Etsy and thought I was trying to sell her products under my name, or sell her stuff through my store, ect.

Who knows.

Anyway, the owner of the said name contacted me asking to stop using her name, and oh so gingerly reminded me that it constitutes as trademark infringement (i.e. she could take me to court if she wished).

So to avoid confusing any others who might be confused, you can now buy Simplee Soap to fulfill all your unscented, uncolored soappy needs.

Evil, Evil Facebook!

As I said in my last post, I finally joined Facebook. It was only a matter of time, really.

Well, I'm become fond of FarmTown. It's an addiction actually. And last night while harvesting my virtual crop to take to the market, It occurred to me that Ari was being way, WAY to quiet.

Low and behold, she was at the kitchen table, enjoying an after dinner butter rub down. Honestly, it was HILARIOUS. Not because there was belly slick all over my table, chair, floors and walls...but BECAUSE it was on the chair, she could not move. Not an inch or she would start sliding. She was begging for me to come pick her up, but I wasn't saving her little butt that quick. I made her wait instead for me to fetch the camera and take these incriminating photos.

Of course, I did pick her up and put her directly into a hot bath. Mid bath I did have to remove her to scrub down the margarine ring that had formed and refill the tub.

Closure

I'm no sure how 'national' this got, but about 5 and a half years ago a woman was abducted from our 'town' (We live out in the boonies, so 'town' is really 20miles away).

Well this weekend the man that abducted, raped, and murdered her made a plea bargain to confess to the crime to get life in prison, rather than the death penalty.

It's great closure for her family, but I can't help but feel uneasy since the location where he bound her, left her for hours (to go get high he says) and came back to rape (and murder) her is less than 10 miles from my house!

Driving to location where all the search crews are parking their cars is 8miles from home.

I can only imagine how close it really depending on how deep they're walking into the woods!

I have been a bad, bad blogger. It's been 3 DAYS since I even logged on!

I am getting very antsy to make soap again...it's been over 2 MONTHS.

Other than finally joining FaceBook, nothing new has been happening around our home. It's time to start preparnig for winter, stocking the shelves, cleaning up the yard and making sure everything is under cover for the rain.

It's been a busy, crazy couple of weeks!

Ali started school

Mr. Sam just keeps growing

And we've been doing lots of berry picking (ok, eating) and harvesting from the garden.

I also have a heft hospital order to fill, so every second of free time I have doesn't go to cleaning the house, I'm working on it.

I'm Feeling Old

This last week went by like a blur...which has left me exhausted and feeling old.

Mr. Sam was officially 1 month old on Thursday

Friday we enrolled Ali in Pre-School at the charter school 15min. from our house.

Apparently I was the last to learn that they HAVE a pre-school... and it has been going for the last 5 years! LOL.

I was super excited though because it sure beats trucking her over 20 miles into town twice a week (on top of finding something to do with the other two) for the 3 hours she'd at school.

And Ari turned TWO yesterday! It feels like we just brought HER home from the hospital! Where does all that time go?

As expected, I need to re-evaluate priorities after having a third baby.

Unfortunately that means Gassner Custom Soaps will take the beating.

I have decided to cut back on some of the products offered and starting the month, Gassner Custom Soaps will no longer be offering body products.

I will slowly list what stock I have in which scents at deep discounts, so watch for them on the website.

I've also decided to close the website. 75% of my sales are from Etsy, so I will continue to sell there.

Since I will no longer be making the products that are packaged in my 1oz, 4oz, and 12oz jars, I will be selling them along with many, MANY of my fragrance oils.

I will be posting a 'Yard Sale' blog soon with these items for sell so my wonderful bloggy friends can have first dibs. After that they will be posted on Etsy or eBay.

5 Years

5 years ago today I married a man that has become my best friend.

I find it absolutely amazing that that you can feel so many emotions about one person. Trust me, there are times I hate that man, but to think that I love him more now than the day we were married blows me away.

Yes, that is the 'oh shit, what did I just do' look on my face

Ok, enough mushy stuff.

I'm sneaking a minute on the computer while Daddy is spending some time with his boy, so a quick little update on this last whirlwind of a week!

Monday morning we headed in for the 7:30am scheduled c-section\. Baby Sam was out at 8:01am screaming before he was even totally out I'm told. He's a VERY healthy boy and took to nursing like a champ (as hubby says "It's a boy. They're boobs. Its natural" Lol!).

BOTH the girls went to Grammy and Grandpa's house Wednesday so when Sam and I came home Thursday, we could have some time to adjust (and I could heal a little more). It was the first time they've EVER been away from mom and dad, so I was pretty happy when they wanted to come home a day early. Poor Ali had a complete melt down, so it was obvious it was time for them to come home (Rik and I were both missing them too)

I've posted some AMAZING photos here that my friend Jessica of Nash Photography (blog and website) has done for us. She is my own personal photographer...she comes out to your house and will spend however much time needed with grumpy kiddos or fussy babies until you're satisfied. She really is amazing!

But anyway, here are some shots she did of Sam last night for us:

He is a healthy boy, weighing 9lbs, 3oz! And 21" long.

Dr's said he came out running...his feet were just kickin' away. Lol

How Would You Spend Your Last Day of Freedom?

After a run of false labor Friday night, I gave up my hopes that this kid would come before tomorrow...

so what am I up to today, my last day of freedom?

Canning Tuna.

Yes, I think I have totally lost it.

Here is a link to the tuna I did last year.

If you have access to fresh tuna and want to try canning your own, it is very simple.

Here is how I do it:

First, I HIGHLY recommend you ask them (whomever your buying from) to fillet the fish. Tuna has 'loins' much like a pork loin, so having them fillet the fish takes 75% of the work out of canning tuna.

Before starting on the tuna, I get the pressure canner warming up. I add 3qts of water (refer to your canner's manual) and turn on the burner.

Then take your loin and simply slice approx. 1.5"- 2" chunks and place them in your clean jars ( I use half pints).

Wipe the lids to ensure nothing will compromise a good seal.

Place your lids on and tighten down the rings.

I can put 24 jars into each canner; 8 jars per layer, stacked 3 high.

Put the lid on and wait for the pressure to build.

For tuna, you will need to maintain, best you can, 10lbs pressure for 100 minutes. It's ok to go over 10lbs (but not into the dangerous 15lb+ range), but not below 10lbs pressure.

It's as simple as that! Canning tuna isn't labor intensive nor is there a lot of prep work...it's just a bit time consuming

The taste of home canned tuna doesn't even compare to what you buy in the store.

How Lucky am I?

First off, a VERY late thank you and shout outs to Andrea and Teresa!

I received my pay-it-forward/sideways gifts from them loooong ago and have never posted about it!

From Andrea, I received this uber cute hat for the babe made from Merino wool. It is soooooo soft! Unfortunately his melon head will probably never get to wear it, so the girls have hijacked it to use for their babies. Apparently they need to stay warm in the 80+ degree weather we've been having.

And from Teresa this uber cute little chalkboard and bead!

This chalkboard will soon be reading a big, fat "KEEP OUT" on it so I can soak in the tub the ease all these pregnancy 'joys'. Now if only the girls could READ it! Lol

And that bead is wanting to become an accent on a new purse. Hehe.

And also a big, BIG thank you to Trisha! I received a package in the mail from her yesterday.

She sent me some sweet baby things for the Little guy...I have the best bloggy friends ever!

I teared up a bit too...but that may have been from the laughter when Ali told me "there's even little hats for the baby"...the pee-pee teepee's. Lol!
