Another Weekend of Gardening

After my little soaping spree, I decided it was gardening time again...

This is what my sad little space looked like after I crawled around weeding it last week:

And this weekend we put the kids to work (hehe)

and prepped it for mulch, which I should have done last year!

There's still a little more to be done, but the baby said he didn't like me doing manual labor...and who and I to argue with the one who kicks my internals?

A few new plants were added and I'm pretty happy with how it's coming along.

We also planted 6 new fruit trees and some more blueberry bushes too...so I feel pretty accomplished! Lol

Soaping Spree!

Since it has been soooooo long since I've made soap and the upcoming summer fair's (and baby!) I thought I needed to get some soaps made up already!

So I went on a mild soaping spree the last few days. Hehe.

2# of lye, a gallon of water later, and 20#'s of soap made, I need more supplies

What a Beautiful Weekend for...

...Weeding?

Yes, I spend the whole weekend outside weeding my neglected little garden space here.

It is looking a little happier now :D

And what put me in such a weeding frenzy?

These little beauties!

There is a wholesale nursery in town that is liquidating and selling everything DIRT CHEAP (no pun intended). I picked up 3, yes 3 Japaneses Maples for under $100!

If you've ever eyeballed these at a nursery, well established trees like these are well over $100 each. I also picked up 6 fruit trees ( A Peach, Nectarine, Apple, Plum, Pear, and Asian Pear) and these lovely grasses. My total bill? Just a little over $200.

I could have spent much, much more, but I held back and still did the happy dance with what I bought

And what else have we been up to?

CHICKS!

The girls are having a blast while these little girls are in the house and under the lights. We got 4 Barred Rock, 3 Buff Orpingtons, 3 Black Australorps, and 6 Ring Neck Pheasants.

Ari was so excited she was getting angry! It was hilarious...poor thing didn't know how to express her emotions.

Double Digits?

Woo Hoo! Today is "100 Days to Go" for my pregnancy ticker (you can find it at the VERY bottom of the blog).

As of tomorrow, I am in single digits for my pregnancy!

SPRING SOAP CHALLENGE *contest*

Over at my favorite soap forum, The Soapmakers Corner, we've become a little quite. So to liven things up some more and to motivate my butt into making some more soap...

I propose a SOAP CHALLENGE for (what's left) of this month... "A Spring Flower"

Scent it, design it, color it, to model your favorite spring flower.

I know I have a few floral scents lying around since floral isn't my fave to work with, so this should be fun!

Being outside!

But no, I've been indoors filling a hospital order

The weather here has been GORGEOUS!

We've been in the upper 60's, low 70's all weekend...but it is supposed to all end tomorrow :(

So what have we been up to?
