What a Beautiful Weekend for...

...Weeding?

Yes, I spend the whole weekend outside weeding my neglected little garden space here.

It is looking a little happier now :D

And what put me in such a weeding frenzy?

These little beauties!

There is a wholesale nursery in town that is liquidating and selling everything DIRT CHEAP (no pun intended). I picked up 3, yes 3 Japaneses Maples for under $100!

If you've ever eyeballed these at a nursery, well established trees like these are well over $100 each. I also picked up 6 fruit trees ( A Peach, Nectarine, Apple, Plum, Pear, and Asian Pear) and these lovely grasses. My total bill? Just a little over $200.

I could have spent much, much more, but I held back and still did the happy dance with what I bought

And what else have we been up to?

CHICKS!

The girls are having a blast while these little girls are in the house and under the lights. We got 4 Barred Rock, 3 Buff Orpingtons, 3 Black Australorps, and 6 Ring Neck Pheasants.

Ari was so excited she was getting angry! It was hilarious...poor thing didn't know how to express her emotions.

Ooooo, congratulations on your great landscaping deals!! That's awesome! My girls would LOVE to have a pet - any pet. They even beg for goldfish. Please, Mom???? I'm still holding out...

You got pheasants?! How very cool! We'd love to try that one of these days...that and quails. :) I wonder if pheasants are easier to pluck than chickens?
